Provides therapeutic treatments to patients, neonatal to geriatric, according to departmental standards and only under the direction of an occupational therapist. Utilizes only methods and procedures within the scope of the practice of limited occupational therapy, and documents same according to departmental standards.

Conducts occupational therapy treatments according to established departmental policies and procedures.

Demonstrates the ability and required competencies to cross cover, i.e. treat patients with a variety of diagnoses in various units.

Immediately discontinues any treatment procedure which appears to be harmful to the patient and notifies the primary or supervising occupational therapist.

Provides support to staff, students and volunteers.

Meets departmental productivity standards.

Consults with and serves as a resource for physicians, nursing staff, and other clinicians to increase knowledge of occupational therapy and to identify patients who would benefit from occupational therapy services.

Completes materials related to Joint Commission preparedness and productivity logs in a timely manner.

Maintains Occupational Therapy Assistant state license, CPR, TB testing, and HealthStream according to departmental policies.

Complies with departmental procedures for Compass

Participates in other designated projects or roles under the direction of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services leadership.

Participate in departmental process improvement initiatives (huddle, metrics, innovative ideas).

Required Minimum Education: Associates Degree in Occupational Therapist Assistant Program for an accredited college or university.

Required License/Certification: Licensed Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant with current license to practice Limited Occupational Therapy by the Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners of Maryland. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications: Acute care or related experience; however, new graduates may be considered based on departmental needs.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Very Heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
