Position Objective:

Performs all the duties and responsibilities of the staff level Radiation Oncology Technologist.

Essential Job Duties:

Orients and trains staff in job duties and departmental policies, procedures, etc.

Provides technical guidance to staff regarding radiation therapy procedures, equipment operation.

Demonstrates leadership and ownership for effectiveness and efficiency in assigned areas of departmental operations.

Assists director with Quality Assurance activities as necessary.

Maintains inventory and requests supplies as necessary.

Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Volunteers for special departmental projects and assignments, as presented by the director, oversees and assures completion of these projects.

Identifies opportunities to improve departmental workflow and communicates these to the Director.

Serves on work groups to implement solutions.

Facilitates improvement of department morale.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Graduate from an AMA approved program in Radiation Therapy Technology.

Must be able to interact smoothly and effectively with people and demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to demonstrate calm, polite and flexible behavior under stressful conditions.

To achieve this level, must have at least 5 years of radiation therapy experience, with at least one (1) of those years at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

Must meet all CME requirements for State and ARRT.

Required License/Certifications:

Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy. Current Maryland State License with current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.

Physical Demands –

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
